RIVERVIEW, Fla. (WFLA) — A 34-year-old man was killed in a road rage shooting Tuesday afternoon according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Affidavits state Bryan Proenza was driving with his fiancé and two young children in the car when tragedy struck on Rose Lane and Baytree Drive in Riverview.

“It’s just heartbreaking to see him get shot,” the victim’s 10-year-old stepson said.

Court documents state a 20-year-old suspect named Jorge Ramirez aggressively followed the family’s SUV, striking it three times.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call to find Proenza suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

“He’s like, ‘I’m dying, I love yall,’ I’m like no you’re not don’t say that,” said Rachel Keesee, Proenza’s fiancé.

The victim died from his injuries in route to a hospital. Five young children will now grow up without their father.

“He struggled through a lot of things, overcame a lot of things only for this senseless thing to occur,” said Sylvia Proenza, the victim’s mother.

Proenza’s family started a GoFundMe to help pay for his funeral.

The suspect in the road rage shooting was charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Investigators at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say additional charges are possible.
