LUTZ, Fla. (WFLA) – Hillsborough detectives have a mystery on their hands.
Something sinister happened on an isolated road in northern Hillsborough County.
It took place in the overnight hours.
Drivers would make a grisly discovery on their way to work Wednesday morning around 6:30.
A woman’s body was found on the side of the road.
It was a shock to people like Tom Windsor, who exercises in the area near Lutz Lake Fern Road and Sierra Pines Boulevard.
“It’s usually kind of pleasant because I walk here early in the morning,” he told WFLA
On Wednesday morning, however, things were far from pleasant.
Windsor noticed something highly unusual, patrol cars everywhere in a spot that’s usually quiet.
“I saw a lot of cars, police cars, and I thought, ‘what in the world could that be,'” he said. “I thought someone was just getting a ticket. As I got closer, I saw more and more lights.”
The lonely country road became a massive crime scene when drivers began calling 911, explaining what they saw during their morning commute.
The road is used by many drivers to go back and forth between Hillsborough and Pasco counties
Hours later, this is still a mystery.
Who is this woman? Where did she live? How did she die?
When Windsor found out late Wednesday afternoon why the patrol cars were there during his morning walk, he was stunned.
“Oh my goodness, that’s sad,” he said. “I’m sorry to hear that. I hope the family will recover from something this tragic, that’s sad.”
Hillsborough investigators hope you may know something about the woman, the case or what took place in the overnight hours. If you do, please call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
