HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Friday morning crash left one man dead and a woman hospitalized in Wimauma, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 4:54 a.m., an 18-year-old Wimauma man was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser heading southbound on US-301, approaching Lightfoot Road.
FHP said for an unknown reason, the teen drifted across the center line, running off the roadway. The vehicle then began to flip.
The Chrysler came to a stop while overturned on the east shoulder of US-301.
According to troopers, the teen was ejected from the car and died at the scene.
His passenger, a 42-year-old Wimauma woman was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
