Around 30 delays and cancellations exist at Tampa International Airport Saturday morning following rough storms that rocked the Tampa Bay area the day before.
Many travelers are hoping to get home as soon as possible.
“My flight was supposed to leave at 6:56 a.m. Now it’s 9:22,” said Robert Harrison, who’s bound for San Francisco.
“Well, you’re hoping to get there today?” reporter Ryan Hughes asked.
“Yes, it is my second day,” he said.
Others tell News Channel 8 they had to sleep inside the airport after their flights were delayed or canceled as a strong line of storms rolled into the area Friday afternoon.
“Long night man,” said Matt McKeigue of Chicago. “About a half hour of sleep. Hard to sleep in an airport. Not that comfortable,” he said.
A ground stop Friday caused 176 flight delays. Officials said 67 flights were canceled.
Airports in Sarasota and St. Pete-Clearwater are facing minimal problems Saturday, online records show.
