Tampa Police say 24-year-old Nicholas Schreiber caused a fatal crash on Westshore Boulevard Saturday night.
Deputies say the crash happened near Montgomery Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when Schreiber tried to overtake another vehicle. Schreiber’s Jeep Grand Cherokee hit several trees and shrubs before slamming head-on into another vehicle causing both to burst into flames. Police say Schreiber’s passenger died in the crash.
Police say Schreiber stayed on scene and admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages. The driver of the Camry suffered minor injuries. Schreiber is currently facing DUI Manslaughter, Vehicular Homicide, and DUI with Property Damage charges.
Schreiber is currently being held with no bond.
