TAMPA (WFLA) — A man fell from a float during the 2024 Gasparilla Parade of Pirates, causing the parade to stall for 25 minutes on Saturday.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue, a 78-year-old man fell 15 feet from a float during the parade at around 4:20 p.m. on Bayshore Boulevard and South Boulevard.
Due to the situation being a trauma alert, medical personnel avoided moving the man while rendering aid, leading to the parade stoppage.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
