TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shootout that left five people with injuries on Tuesday morning.
According to deputies, a large group of people were gathered outside a Citgo on 8th Street and Rideout Road when a verbal altercation occurred. Someone pulled out a gun and shot someone, then another person started shooting. Altogether, five people were struck by gunfire, including the first shooter. Two of the victims remain at local hospitals Tuesday morning.
No arrests have been made at this time.
“Senseless acts of violence, especially in public vicinities where innocent bystanders could be injured, are unacceptable,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are continuing to conduct an investigation into this incident and interviewing the individuals involved to learn more about what led up to the shooting.
