HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Three people were shot Wednesday night in Riverview, according to officials.

The shooting happened in the 10000 block of Sweet Sapling Street, deputies said. Two adult women and one man were taken to a hospital with injuries to “lower extremities.”

All three people are expected to be OK. Family members said the three who were shot were 18, 20, and 22 years old. According to the sheriff’s office, the 22-year-old victim had an active warrant from Alabama and was remote-booked at Tampa General Hospital.

“My grandkids were out there as well,” said Saphenya Green, and aunt of the victims. “To come home from work, it’s devastating for anyone to have to go through this. It’s heartbreaking.”

Green said there was some sort of argument that escalated.

Green said the shooter then shot into a group of children.

“Everybody started running, and I froze because I couldn’t believe that was happening,” said Natalia Kirkland, who lives nearby.

There are no suspects in custody, according to officials. A suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area, but deputies are not sharing a description at this time due to safety concerns.

“He ran to his truck,” Green said. “Kids were out there. And shot in my sister’s house constantly. He didn’t care at all.”

While Green’s family is recovering in the hospital, their lives are changed forever.

“It’s devastating for anyone to have to go through this,” she said. “There were a lot of kids out here. It’s heartbreaking.”
