A Hernando County man has reached a milestone that few people would want to brag about.

Joseph Henry Simpson Jr., age 47, of Brooksville has been arrested by Hernando County deputies 52 times since 1995.

The 52nd arrest came on June 22, when Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detectives say they saw Simpson driving a vehicle in the area of Cooper Terrace and Mondon Hill Road in Brooksville. Detectives knew that Simpson’s driver’s license had been revoked since 2005 and they attempted to make contact with Simpson.

Detectives say Simpson got out of the vehicle and ran away, but they caught him quickly.

A K-9 team was called to search the vehicle that Simpson had been driving. K-9 deputy “Judge” detected the presence of narcotics, according to detectives.

The vehicle was then taken to the sheriff’s office. Detectives later obtained and then executed a search warrant on the vehicle.

50.6 grams of methamphetamine and 27 hydrocodone pills were found inside the vehicle, according to the HCSO.

Simpson was arrested for multiple charges including:felony driving while license suspended or restricted (habitual offender), violation of parole, possession of hydrocodone and trafficking in methamphetamine.

Simpson was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center.
