SIESTA KEY, Fla (WFLA) — A hammerhead shark gave beachgoers a scare at Siesta Key on Memorial Day.

The hammerhead attracted a small crowd at the beach.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies Brandon Clark and Jimmy Adams helped keep beachgoers at ease after the hammerhead washed ashore, according to the SCSO Facebook page.

Unfortunately the shark was deceased, but luckily personnel were quick to respond and able to return the animal back to the gulf.

Deputies checked the animal but found nothing suspicious. It appears the shark may have died of natural causes.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON RIGHT NOW:
