A girl may have been the motive behind two Citrus County teenage boys alleged attempt to murder a 16-year-old boy.

The victim was taken to a remote area, beaten, chased and shot according to arrest affidavits released by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

One of the suspects, Bryan Robinson, 16, was arrested last week for the murder of Stephen Gorney, 54, of Crystal River.

Robinson and Kyle Dutcher, 16, both of Crystal River are charged with premeditated attempted murder and aggravated battery using a deadly weapon in connection with the attack against another teen, which investigators say happened on March, 4.

Detectives say Robinson, Dutcher and the victim went to vacant acreage at the end of Penn Road so they could smoke pot and fire a handgun. After the trio arrived, Robinson and Dutcher started beating the victim with their hands and feet.

“Dutcher and defendant were beating him due to the fact that the victim was in a prior relationship with Dutcher’s girlfriend,” said the arrest affidavit.

During the beating, the victim moved to a seated position and put his hands to cover his head. The victim told detectives he saw Robinson pull out a 22-caliber handgun from his waistband and pointed it at his head, according to the affidavit. The victim watched Robinson aim the gun at his head and then fired a shot. The bullet grazed the victim’s head.

Detectives say the victim has a scar on his head from the shooting.

The victim ran into the woods to get away from Robinson and Dutcher who ran after him and caught him. The pair began beating him again. Then, Robinson allegedly pointed the gun at the victim’s head and pulled the trigger repeatedly causing a clicking noise, but no bullets were fired.

The pair then took the victim back to the truck where Dutcher allegedly told him they were going to let him live and he should not talk about the incident.

They dropped the victim off about a block from his residence.

The victim told detectives that he did not want to tell law enforcement about the crime because of how he would be perceived by his friends.

Investigators say they interviewed Dutcher, who described the incident in the same manner.

Dutcher was arrested. Robinson, who is jailed on the previous murder charge, was informed of the new charges against him.

Bryan Robinson is accused in another disturbing crime. Robinson and Citrus County teen, Ytzick Wall, were arrested on April 28 and are accused of murdering Stephen Gorney, 54, by hitting him on the head, dragging his body to a porch hot tub and adding bleach. Read more.
