AYDEN, N.C. (WNCT) – Some troops serving overseas will soon get a taste of the “sweet life.”
NC Packs 4 Patriots received a truckload of Girl Scout cookies early Tuesday in Ayden as part of “Cookies for Troops.” The cookies were sold and donated by the Coastal Pines Girl Scout Council.
Girl scouts from Troop 3010, military members and veterans offloaded nearly 1800 cases of cookies including thin mints, caramel delights and other varieties. Each case contains 12 boxes of the delicious treats.
The cookies will be shipped to troops deployed around the world.
Barbara Whitehead, director of NC Packs 4 Patriots, says it’s these little remainders of home that boost troops’ morale while deployed.
“Nothing says home like more than the taste of Girl Scout cookies,” Whitehead said. “This is a remainder of being home, being with people you love…who love and support you.”
This is the 11th year “Cookies for Troops” has served soldiers and marines deployed overseas.
