GIBSONTON, Fla. (WFLA) — A 2-year-old boy who was run over as he sat in his stroller on Sunday has died from his injuries.

Zachary Allen Ustaszewski died at Tampa General Hospital. A hospital spokesperson did not release details about the toddler’s passing, but did say his family wanted people to know that he became an organ donor, so the lives of others could be saved.

Zachary was in his stroller when he was run over at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday. Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say Brandon Concepcion and Zachary’s grandfather, Randy Lear, were leaving the residence at 10014 Flume Terrace at Sandy’s Mobile Home Park.

Concepcion backed out and did not see Zachary in his stroller behind the truck. He backed over the stroller and into the roadway. He started to pull forward and was unaware he had run over the child, according to the sheriff’s office.

A neighbor witnessed the crash and ran to the truck, banging on the window to stop the truck.

The truck stopped and the neighbors moved the boy from the roadway to a grassy area in front of 10016 Flume Terrace.

Zachary suffered severe head trauma. He was flown to Tampa General Hospital where he was listed in critical condition after his arrival.

A GoFundMe page has been created by Zachary’s grandmother to pay for his final expenses. Sharon Ustaszewski wrote that just two months ago, Zachary’s sister died from SIDS. She was two months old when she passed away.
