A giant panda gave birth to twin female cubs this morning at a panda breeding center in southwest China. It’s the world’s first set of giant panda twins born in 2015.
Both of the cubs are in good health, according to the breeders at the Chengdu Research Base for giant panda breeding. The older sister weighs only 0.2 pounds and the younger sister weighs just over a tenth of a pound. The breeders feed the cubs about one milliliter of milk per meal.
Their mother got pregnant through artificial insemination in January. She gave birth to the twins after being in labor for two hours.
