Bob Buckhorn is celebrating his last Gasparilla as the mayor of Tampa this week and is holding strong, refusing to surrender the city.
Pirates from Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla invaded downtown on Tuesday to find the mayor and demand the key. After parading down the streets of the city and sounding their cannons, they found Mayor Buckhorn at city hall and took him hostage.
The mayor met with Captain Chapman at Lykes Gaslight Park, where the pirates demanded the key to the city to avoid a battle.
Following tradition, Mayor Buckhorn refused the pirates’ request with a firm “hell no!”
This means the pirates will return and invade the city on Saturday with reinforcements so they can battle.
