Frontier continues to be an issue for hundreds in Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The switch from Verizon to Frontier continues to be a rocky one for many customers. Hundreds of people in the Tampa Bay area reported Internet and TV outages over the weekend.

On Frontier’s Down Detector, outages have been reported in Tampa, Valrico, Bradenton, Sarasota and Brandon.

Charlotte Heitlinger tells News Channel 8 she has been without Frontier internet and television services for about two weeks and has been calling the company every day to try and resolve things.

“I spoke to Ramona, I spoke to Tori in Customer Service and he said, ‘Your service will be on in an hour.’ That was about two weeks ago,” said Charlotte Heitlinger. “It’s been very, very frustrating.”

A Frontier spokesperson sent the following message to News Channel 8 regarding the outages:

“The slow network connections that some customers experienced over the last day have been corrected.  We identified the network problem and re-routed the traffic, which resolved the issue.  We apologize for any inconvenience, and encourage customers with further questions to contact our customer care team at 1-888-457-4110, a special number for our Florida customers.”

In the meantime, Heitlinger claims the company has issued credits to her account, but it’s not the money she is worried about.

“Right now, I have a $115 credit, they said they are sending me another $50 credit. I don’t want their credits, what I want is service,” said Heitlinger.

Frontier took over Verizon customers in April after acquiring Verizon’s wireline operations in several markets including Florida. This was not a smooth transaction for many customers. An 82-year-old woman in Sarasota was without the phone service for two weeks after the takeover.

The problems continue attracting the attention of the office of the Florida Attorney General. Frontier announced a new plan of action to fix the overwhelming problems in Florida.
