ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – The Friday night game between the Tampa Bay Rays and San Francisco Giants will have special meaning.
The team had previously scheduled its annual pride night celebration for Friday, but in wake of the Orlando Massacre, it becomes so much more important.
On Tuesday, the team sold all remaining tickets for $5 each. They were gone quickly.
The team plans to give away “We Are Orlando” t-shirts to everyone who attends as a symbol of unity and inclusion.
Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit the Pulse Nightclub shooting victims.
And OneBlood will hold a blood drive at Tropicana Field beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
“We are grateful for and proud of the region’s response to our Pride Night dedication,” said Rays President Brian Auld. “In the wake of a terrible tragedy, and in a matter of hours, 40,000 people have chosen to come together, to stand side by side in a show of support for the victims, their families, the City of Orlando and the greater LGBT community,” Auld said in a statement.
The game gets underway at 7:10 p.m.SEE MORE TOP CLICKED STORIES:
