TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Friday night football is back – and so is News Channel 8’s Friday Night Blitz!

For 13 weeks, we’re highlighting a high school football game of the week.

Every Friday morning, News Channel 8 teams up with 93.3 FLZ for a pep rally, and this morning Tampa’s Alonso High School was on fire! Hundreds of students set their alarms early to rev up for tonight’s home game.

Alonso is the third-largest school in Hillsborough County, with a whopping 2,600 students. This morning’s pep rally got started at 5:45 a.m. – and was one of three planned throughout the day! The Ravens are taking on their rivals, the Sickles High School Gryphons, who attend class just three miles away.

The Ravens take on the Gryphons at Alonso High School at 7:30pm. News Channel 8 will have the highlights starting at 11:15 p.m. on the Friday Night Blitz.MORE:
