POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A former Polk County teacher who admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old student more than 20 times wants her sentence reduced.
Jennifer Fichter was sentenced to 22 years in jail. She was charged with 37 counts of child sex crimes.RELATED: Former teacher convicted of sex crimes returns to court
Police arrested her in April of 2014. They say she admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old student. Detectives said she had sex with the teen in her truck 20 to 30 times in parking lots in the area.RELATED: Europeans support former Polk teacher jailed for sex with students
Investigators say she was having sex with two other students as well. They say some of the sexual encounters happened in Polk County and some in Hillsborough County.
Fichter was a teacher at the Central Florida Aerospace Academy.
Fichter is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 29 to ask for a lighter sentence.
