The Volusia County Supervisor of Elections is blaming a machine problem after a recount yielded different election results.

Officials said Tuesday that the recount was finished on Monday night and that different results had been found.

Officials said they believe the change in results comes from how the ballots were entered during the recount. The discrepancies were on early voting and vote by mail ballots.

A total of 240 ballots that were counted one way when results were uploaded on election day came out differently during the recount.

Three state races and two local races were impacted.

All 67 counties face a Thursday deadline to complete recounts.

The recount was ordered Saturday in three statewide races after unofficial results showed Republican former U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis leading Democratic Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum by 0.41 percentage points in the race for governor and Rick Scott leading Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson by 0.14 percentage points for the Senate. A recount has also been ordered in the race for Commissioner of Agriculture between Nikki Fried and Matt Caldwell.

Volusia County is also recounting votes in the race for State House district 26 between Elizabeth Fetterhoff and Patrick Henry.
