(WFLA) — At least one person was taken into custody following a high-speed police chase along I-75 in South Florida Wednesday afternoon.
According to NBC affiliate WTVJ, the chase began when two vehicles were stolen from a home in Miami-Dade shortly after 1:30 p.m. From there, authorities said the suspects made their way into Broward, where a red Mercedes SUV was captured weaving through traffic on I-75.
The driver eventually exited the highway and ditched the vehicle in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood.
Authorities, following close behind, surrounded a building where the suspect tried to hide. Minutes later, authorities were spotted removing a person from the building in handcuffs.
Police said the driver of the second stolen vehicle remains at large, though footage showed officers at a second scene where a black SUV had reportedly been left on the side of the road.
