TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Police are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami on Friday, according to NBC affiliate WTVJ.
Miami Police told WTVJ the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. when officers responded to a dispute between two men.
On arrival, officials reportedly found one man armed with a knife.
WTVJ reports an officer fired at the man who then fled towards the hospital where he was apprehended.
Officers told WTVJ that the suspect received immediate aid and treatment at Jackson Memorial.
“We do want to emphasize that even though we have road closures, access to the hospital and anyone needing to get to the hospital will still be available,” Officer Rafael Horta said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
