New play pavilion, park entrance coming to Walt Disney World’s Epcot

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WFLA) – Walt Disney World has announced more changes coming to Epcot in the coming years.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the multi-year evolution of Epcot includes plans for a play pavilion and a new park entrance. Renderings of both were released on Thursday.

The blog says the play pavilion will “be devoted to playful fun and feature an innovative city that’ll come to life under the dome of the un-named pavilion previously known as Wonders of Life.”

The city will reportedly feature hands-on activities, entertainment and Disney characters.

The new play pavilion will open just in time for the 50th anniversary of Disney World, according to the blog.

The new entrance will feature a plaza with new pathways, green spaces and a new fountain.

The design will reportedly pay homage to the original park entrance.

The Disney Parks Blog said significant redevelopment will begin between the Spaceship Earth attraction and the World Showcase Promenade. More details regarding that area will be announced at a later date.
