A south Florida family have a whale of a tale to tell after encountering a whale shark.
Jen Stacy posted the video to Facebook, saying her husband’s friend, son and grandson were fishing about 70 miles southwest of Sanibel Island.
That’s where they spotted a massive whale shark and a school of rays.
The average size of an adult whale shark is estimated at a little under 32 feet. The average whale shark weighs 9 tons.
The species of shark is a filter-feeder and they have 300 to 350 rows of tiny teeth.
