TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man who was sleeping on train tracks in South Florida was hit by a train around 8:49 a.m. on Saturday.
According to NBC affiliate WTVJ, the man was discovered to have been sleeping on the tracks when he was struck near the area of 103rd Street Northwest 37th Avenue in Hialeah.
The Miami-Dade Police Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the incident, where the victim was then transported in critical condition to a nearby trauma center.
According to Tri-Rail, a commuter rail system that runs through Miami-Dade, the incident caused delays of up to half an hour on Saturday morning.
WTVJ reported that the incident remains under investigation.
