2nd baby eagle hatches in Florida

TAMPA (WFLA) — Florida nature lovers had their eyes glued to their computer screens Tuesday morning to watch a nest in Fort Myers and witness a pair of baby eagles hatching.

For nearly two months, Harriet and her mate M15, have watched vigilantly over their two eggs, which were laid on Nov. 29 and Dec. 2. Eggs typically hatch 35 to 38 days after they are laid.

A pip, or crack, was seen on one of the eggs on Sunday. It finally hatched on Monday.

On Tuesday, cracks began to form around the second egg which later opened to reveal a second baby eagle.

The eagles can be seen on the popular Southwest Florida Eagle Cam, which is managed by the Dick Pritchett Real Estate family farm.
