JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – Jacksonville Beach reported its first shark bite of the year, according to WTLV.

A woman was reportedly bitten on the hand by what was likely a small shark, WTLV reported.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with cuts.

A lifeguard told WTLV the woman was in waist deep water or less.

The water visibility was reportedly low, possibly causing the shark to misidentify its target.

No further information was immediately released.
