TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a new bill into law Tuesday to help support children in the foster care system and adoptive parents.

While at Miami Dade College, DeSantis signed SB 7034, a bill that would give a monthly stipend to relatives who care for children as guardians, just as other foster parents do.

The bill also includes $25 million to give $200 a month to foster parents of newborns and children up to 5 years old. This would be given to over 7,000 families.

Finally, the bill will allow foster children better opportunities to get tuition and fee waivers while attending state colleges and job training programs.
