FWC biologists rescue bobcat

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WFLA) – Biologists rescued a bobcat after the animal became stuck in a plastic pipe.

A woman spotted the bobcat in trouble and called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The woman knew the cat was in trouble because the plastic around its neck was so large, FWC said.

Dr. Jennifer Korn, an FWC panther biologist, trapped the 2-year-old female bobcat. Biologist Josh Birchfield helped Korn sedate the cat. They removed the pipe.

The bobcat is healthy, FWC said.

“This story is a great reminder to pick up or secure any trash or debris you may find outdoors. You may save a life,” FWC said.
