ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — An “armed intruder” threatened a bus driver with a gun at the University of Central Florida on Thursday evening, according to campus police.
The UCF Police Department said it received a 911 call from a bus driver at a Lynx station near Garage A reporting that “a belligerent man threatened him with a gun.”
Police said they issued an emergency alert notifying the campus of the armed suspect and ordered everyone to shelter in place.
Officers were able to locate the suspect and his weapon using police patrol and surveillance cameras. No shots were fired.
The suspect was taken into custody and charges are pending.
“We recognize that this was a frightening situation and understand this incident has impacted members of our campus community. UCF resources are available to students, faculty, and staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” the police department said.
