Florida officer shot by fellow officer on causeway, police investigating

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Miami Beach Police Officer was shot on the Venetian Causeway on Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

Authorities said at around 12:31 p.m., another agency warned of an armed suspect walking along the causeway.

As the Miami Beach Police Department was arresting the suspect, one of the officers shot another officer.

The officer was taken to a nearby trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. They are stable and alert, officials said.

The scene remains under investigation.
