A shark bit a 19-year-old Sanford man Sunday evening while he was wading in waist-deep water in New Smyrna Beach.
It happened around 7:30 p.m., just north of Flagler Avenue.
Officials said the man was bitten on the calf. The injury required stitches, but officials said the man was able to drive himself to a hospital.
