FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday that $20 million would be given to 98 different projects to improve infrastructure to mitigate flooding impacts in Florida.
DeSantis made the announcement during a conference at Lovers Key State Park.
“For the first time, Florida has strategic coordination guiding statewide efforts to protect coastal and inland infrastructure, and dedicated funding to support these projects,” he said.
The governor said the 98 grants would be administered through the Resilient Florida Planning Program, which was created after legislators passed Senate Bill 1954.
The program assists communities by providing a coordinated approach for resilience projects to protect natural defenses against sea-level rises.
