With 40 days left until the Aug. 28 primary day, it’s make or break time for two Democratic candidates for governor.

All five Democratic candidates for governor will take the stage tonight in Fort Myers at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Cohen Center at 7 p.m. for their fourth debate.

Chris King, Orlando businessman and Harvard graduate, needs to make up ground. Despite praise for his creative policy positions, his numbers going down instead of up in the most recent polls.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum was the first to announce his candidacy. He now trails the other candidates by double digits.

Billionaire businessman Jeff Greene leads the pack in recent polling after significant ad buys introduced him to Florida voters. He’ll be debating Wednesday for the first time since entering the race only six weeks ago, hoping to pull off a Rick Scott-style spend-and-succeed campaign.

Former U.S. Representative Gwen Graham trails Greene slightly. Her recent ads highlight her relationship with her father, popular former governor Bob Graham.

Once a front-runner, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine has slid in recent weeks, but still has plenty of money and powerful connections in the important South Florida region.
