DELTONA, Fla. (WESH) — Law enforcement gave a 10-year-old Volusia County girl a sweet surprise on Sunday.
Katie Shepherd was selling lemonade and fresh-baked cookies at a stand outside her home on Fallbrook Avenue in Deltona, but few customers came.
When she grew discouraged, her mother contacted the sheriff’s non-emergency number to offer up a treat to law enforcement.
Dispatcher Christie Dercole spread the word. Soon, Katie was inundated with customers with deputy patrol cars and county fire trucks lining the streets.
