Marion County deputies are crediting a quick-acting deputy with saving a baby’s life.
Deputy Jeremie Nix was on his way home when a woman flagged him down at the intersection of Lake Weir Avenue and 17Street.
The woman said her 3-month-old son was unresponsive and needed help.
Nix turned his patrol car around and pulled off the side of the road to help.
After attempting several lifesaving measures on the child, Nix decided to put the boy in his patrol car and rush him to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Medical staff at the hospital treated the child, who survived the ordeal and is expected to make a full recovery.
Doctors said it is because of Nix’s quick actions that the boy is alive today.
