A Ford Mustang was nearly crushed after it veered out of the I-95 express lanes into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer and then fleeing the scene.

The near-disastrous accident happened Sunday morning, WTVJ reports Ignacio Roman who was driving the tractor-trailer said the hit-and-run could have been much worse.

“I hit the brakes and turned the steering wheel to the right a little bit, so I wouldn’t kill him because he was headed right towards my truck,” Roman said. “You get nervous, but that’s when you have to react quickly. And because of instinct and my experience on the road, I was able to at least save their lives.”

Roman hopes the Florida Highway Patrol is able to find the driver of the white Mustang. He believes the crash could have been deadly and may have involved more people if it had happened any other day of the week.
