The brother of Orlando police Chief John Mina has been arrested and is charged with sexually battering a child, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings told WESH 2 News.
Demings said Edward Mina is being held without bond at the Orange County Jail on charges of sexual battery on a child under 12 and lewd or lascivious molestation on a child under 12.
He is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday.
Orlando police Chief John Mina released the following statement: “These are extremely serious and disturbing criminal allegations. At this time, I am most concerned with the welfare and privacy of the child involved, and won’t be making any further comment.”
