A 4-year-old who was found unconscious in a locked car in Orange County on Friday afternoon has died, deputies confirmed.

Officials said a bystander found the boy in a car outside a school on West Oak Ridge Road.

The bystander took the child to the Orange County Fire Rescue Station 51, which was across the street, authorities said.

Authorities said the child was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A parent from Elite Prep Academy told WESH 2 News she received a text that said there was an emergency, and her child needed to be picked up as soon as possible.

Employees were outside of Elite Prep facilitating pick up while WESH 2 was at the scene.

Miles away, in Sanford, a 1-year-old girl died Friday after being pulled from a hot car at a Wawa gas station.
