CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA/WTVJ) – An art installation dedicated to the Parkland high school shooting was set on fire on Sunday.
It was all designed by the artists who built the “Temple of Time” in nearby Coral Springs to honor the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Victims’ family members, police officers and firefighters lit the wooden structure on fire.
Thousands of others gathered to watch.
People from all over the world had visited the temporary temple since it opened in February, pausing to reflect, writing messages, leaving flowers, cards and mementos.
Sunday, the temple was burned in a ceremony designed to help people let go of their pain, anger and sadness.
