FORT PIERCE, Fla. (WFLA) — An Amber Alert was canceled Saturday for a missing 12-year-old out of Fort Pierce.

The child was reported missing after being seen in the 6500 block of Nuevo Lagos in Fort Pierce, according to an alert from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

However, the FDLE announced that the child was found safe early Saturday morning.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, the child and his father, Tracey Scarborough, were found in the River Ranch area of Polk County at about 11:20 p.m. Friday.

Scarborough was arrested on a warrant for interference of child custody, deputies said.

“We are very relieved the child was safely located and there was a peaceful resolution to this incident,” Sheriff Ken Mascara said. “I want to express my gratitude to members of our communities for helping us bring this situation to a close. I also want to thank the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and our state and federal partners who assisted with this case.”

The child was placed in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
