WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – A record-setting python was caught in Miami-Dade County on Monday.

According to the South Florida Water Management District, Kyle Penniston captured a 17-foot, 5-inch female Burmese python while hunting on the district’s land.

The snake weighed in at 120 pounds.

With this catch, SFWMD’s Python Elimination Program hunters have eliminated 1,859 of the invasive snakes on district lands.

Penniston himself has hunted 235 of the snakes and is currently second among the hunters.
