Deputy J. Marcum with the Escambia County Sheriffs Office won $1,000 Thursday at a Rotary Foundation meeting.
Marcum, a member of the K-9 unit in Escambia County, shared with the Pensacola SubWest Rotary how the K-9 teams are utilized for searches and drug detection efforts.
The deputy won the Rotary’s raffle and immediately donated it to the Rotary Foundation to aid with hurricane relief.
The Rotary club posted photos of the deputy to Facebook and his K-9 partner Benga saying, “That folks, is Escambia County’s finest…service above self.”
The Sheriffs Office also shared the selfless act, “We are very proud of Deputy Marcum and K-9 Benga’s work in Escambia County and his decision to help out with our neighbor’s recovery efforts.”
