LITHIA, FL (WFLA) – A fire at a home in Lithia left six people homeless early Saturday morning, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The call about the fire came in at about 4 a.m. Firefighters said the smoke alarms alerted people about the fire and they managed to get out safely before the crews arrived.

When HCFR crews got there, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the three-story house. They started battling the fire and the second alarm was called.

The fire was under control within 45 minutes, according to HCFR. The house had heavy smoke and fire damage. Three grown-ups and three children who lived there are now homeless. Red Cross responded to the scene to help them.

Fire investigator will work to determine the cause of the fire. Nobody was injured.
