HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Two men are under arrest on several charges after law enforcement officials say they threw bottles at a car with a baby inside on Interstate 4 late Wednesday night.
It happened before midnight on I-4. The incident started in Polk County and continued on to Hillsborough. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was dispatched to a call involving occupants of a car throwing glass bottles at another car on the highway.
The caller said that they heard a gunshot after the glass bottles were thrown at the car. There were four people in the car including an infant, according to FHP.
Lakeland Police had pulled over the suspect car by the time the FHP officer arrived. There were four occupants in that car as well. Law enforcement officials found a bag of Ecstasy under the driver’s seat. The driver, Nabil Subhai Hasan, 23, also had a bag of weed hidden in his body cavity.
Officers also found a loaded semi-automatic gun under the cushion of the rear right seat.
Hasan and Derrick Alan Innocent, 23, were arrested. Hasan was charged with throwing a deadly missile at a vehicle and possession of cannabis. Innocent was charged with shooting at a vehicle, possession of controlled substance, and felon in possession of a firearm. They were taken to the Hillsborough County jail.
Both men have an arrest record in Hillsborough County. Hasan has been previously arrested for possession of cannabis, tampering with physical evidence, and other charges. Innocent’s previous arrests include burglaries and grand theft.
