EGMONT KEY, Fla. (WFLA) — Egmont Key National Wildlife Refuge will reopen Friday after a wildfire burned more than 80 acres. Egmont Key State Park is also located on the island.

A spokesperson with the Southeast Region of United States Fish and Wildlife Service Fire Management said that Egmont Key will open at daylight. The public will be required to stay on refuge trails.

A lightning strike started the wildfire on Tuesday morning. Firefighters reported they received around one inch of rain on Wednesday night. As of Thursday, the fire was 95 percent contained. Firefighters were mopping up and cleaning up the fire line on Thursday.

Egmont Key is only accessible only by boat.
