ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – St. Petersburg fire and police officials confirmed responding to 12 calls regarding suspected Spice overdose in the city just on Saturday. There were no reported deaths in connection with these cases.

St. Petersburg Police officers answered to 12 calls between 1 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. to the area of 4th Avenue North and 15th Street about people having bad reactions to suspected synthetic drug Spice use. Those were medical episodes with seizure-like symptoms, vomiting and fainting. Some victims refused rescue and left the area.

The Spice use has not been confirmed but is suspected, police said. They did arrest four people for Spice possession in the area.

Officers said they have received multiple reports of adverse reaction to suspected Spice in the last few days.
