CLYDE, NY (WROC) – Deputies say an upstate New York woman lied about being raped by a man she met on a dating app after he refused to take her home.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Jessica Gallagher first told investigators she had been picked up by an unknown man she met on a dating app. Deputies say Gallagher claimed she had been blindfolded, taken to a home and then raped.

But after further investigation, deputies say the woman admitted to lying about the rape. They say she told deputies she had made the false report because she was angry the man refused to give her a ride home.

Gallagher is now charged with making a punishable false written statement and falsely reporting an incident.

Gallagher was arraigned and held on $500 bail. She will return to court on July 18.
