WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman who claimed she was being stalked by a stranger was arrested Friday for giving false information to law enforcement, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Brianna Lang, 24, and her husband James Bradley Lang, 27, were both taken into custody Friday evening.

According to PCSO, Brianna Lang contacted the Polk deputies and told them she was attacked by a man in her own back yard and the attacker was stalking her. She gave detectives specific details about the stalker showing up at several Winter Haven businesses following her. She provided PCSO with photos of a man leaning against a car saying that he was her stalker.

She even helped detectives put together a composite drawing of the alleged attacker. She never mentioned to law enforcement that her husband was the one battering her.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office released this photo of the man.

When Polk detectives started investigating the case, they learned that Brianna Lang’s coworkers had confronted her before about injuries they saw on her. Detectives asked the woman about those reports and she admitted she had lied about the attack and the stalking.

She said her husband choked and beat her in May and again earlier in July. She told detectives that the “attacker” she described was just a random customer at her place of business who had said to her once that she needed to smile more.

Brianna Lang was charged with Knowingly Giving False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer, and False Information to LEO During an Investigation.  Her husband, James Bradley Lang, is charged with Domestic Violence – Strangulation, and Domestic Violence Battery.
