LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was arrested Wednesday by Lake County deputies, accused of groping and kissing a woman during a traffic stop.
A 21-year-old woman told deputies that she was pulled over by David Gonzalez, 35, earlier this month for speeding along U.S. Highway 441. She said Gonzalez complimented her on her looks and then asked her to move her vehicle onto a side street.
The woman said she was ordered out of the car and that Gonzalez took her phone. She said Gonzalez added himself to her Snapchat account and then had her take a selfie with him.
After taking the selfie, the woman said Gonzalez hugged her, kissed her and groped her breast against her will.
Deputies said Gonzalez was arrested after they monitored a Snapchat conversation between him and the victim. During the Snapchat conversation, Gonzalez made statements that confirmed the victim’s account of the traffic stop, deputies said.
Gonzalez was booked into the Lake County Jail, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
